Before starting his architectural studies Marc learned the carpentry craft, for which, after the three years training period he received his journeyman’s certificate. In addition he completed a course to receive a qualification as Assistant to Works Manager (Construction). Marc studied architecture and design at the University of Applied Science of Constance (Germany). Following the first part of his studies Marc worked as project and construction manager for the company BDS-Universal-Bau on a variety of projects ranging from industrial buildings to new housing schemes.
In 2002 he moved to London, where he continued studying for his Bachelor Degree and Diploma at the University of Greenwich. At that time, Marc became a qualified architect (ARB) and being elected as RIBA chartered member. Over the 25 years in architectural practice, he worked in the sectors of mix-used, commercial, residential, educational, health care, hotels, banks, etc. covering the phases from initial concept to completion.
In 2009 Marc came to Shanghai to contribute his professional expertise and managerial skills in various projects such as the German-Chinese House for the Expo 2010, a “Zero Carbon Emission” office building for a high profile international company and the Shanghai Suhewan urban masterplan.
In 2011 Marc and his Chinese partner Kan Dong set up their own architectural design company C.U.L.T.Architects with the cooperation of various Chinese and foreign partners to combine local and international expertise in response to the developing Chinese market and the increasing demand for high quality design and sophisticated technological application within the architecture and construction sector. Over the last years Marc successfully accomplished projects in the fields of interior design, architecture, masterplanning and brand design in the commercial, F&B, office and public sectors. In addition Marc is valued by his cooperation partners and clients for his consultation services.
