The elementary school will provide space for 1200 students, teaching and support staff in a child-friendly and engaging atmosphere. A major focus has been on creating adaptable, bright teaching environments which are clearly structured and integrated in the overall setting as well as reflecting the long history of the school and its deeply rooted standing within the neighbourhood community.

The design strives to achieve a balance between different priorities of the project parties involved as well as striking a balance between various functional (project brief & program), economical and technical factors.

At a more practical level, a number of key decisions about the required space provision, the organisation, management, pastoral support systems of the school and the spatial constraints, urban setting of the site and additional requirements (e.g. regulations, flood prevention, etc.) had major implications for the layout of the building and the site as a whole.
